Hi guys.

I have a Potterton EP3000 remote controller and a Worcester Greenstar Camray Utility 25/32

I've upgraded to Hive but I've got a problem. I can fire the hotwater up and the boiler kicks in, however, when I try to fire up the CH, the hive registers that the central heating is on but the boiler doesn't fire up.

I've attached the following pictures
1) Old Potterton wiring
2) Hive wiring
3) wiring in box by boiler.
4) wiring box cover

Any ideas on what I've done wrong please

Pic of the back of the old prog please

That's great

Do you have two port valves or a 3 port

When you link 4 and 5 on the old programer does the boiler fire for ch (you might need to turn the room stat up )?

The wiring is how it was on the original programmer and we've never had a room thermostat before. When you up the temp on the hive it show the central heating to be on but the boiler doesn't fire up

Link 4 and 5 on the old prog boiler should fire on ch

(Wires in a choc block together)

Are you asking me to put the old programmer back on and change the wires?

No just choc block them two wires together that went in 4 and 5 on the old prog

Will test if it's a wiring fault or something else

No as it should fire independent of the hive now

If you can remove the Earth wire from the chock block and put it into the live terminal on the new backplate

Heating should fire

TBH there always a pain I would recommend re wiring it

What do I do with the blue wire that left in the choc block?

Just leave it in the choc block for now

Are you sure you have an s plan system?? Looks more like a y plan

There will be a port valve somewhere, and will either have 2 or 3 pipes connected to it

TBH it might be worth putting it all back how it was and getting a pro in to install/ rewire it to a decent standard

Thank you for trying to help. I'e got a heating engineer coming on Monday. It's absolutely freezing so was hoping to get it sorted.

Put the old prog back on and you should be warm

Morning

Right so this morning I've put the old programmer back on with the wires in the original configuration (see attached) but for ease as follows:

Turquoise to N(choc block) linked to N
Light blue in N
Brown in L with a brown link to 5
Nothing in 1
Grey in 2
black and brown with red sleeve in 3
yellow and green with red sleeve in 4
linked brown and blue in 5
earth to earth (on side)

Never noticed before as we never used the controller only the power switch to turn on, but we can only turn CH and water on together and cannot control separately.

There is a screw on that back of the Potterton that lets you control them separately, but when you turn to CH the boiler wont fire up.

Sounds like you have a problem with your wiring

Best get someone to start from scratch and rewire it properly
