New member hive install advice :)

Hello all I’m a new member and wanted to give installing hive heating and water plus a multi zone unit myself a go. I currently have a range tribune he cylinder, ideal icos he24 boiler, 2 x Honeywell t40 thermostats on each floor and a Danfoss CP715Si programmer. Looking at the hive install manual it seems my set up is a bit more complex then a straight swap as there are multiple wires into each connector at the programmer end and tonnes of wires at the cylinder - I guess this is due to the various zones. I’ve had a look at the wiring document for the programmer, thermo and cylinder and kind of understand what each cable does. I was wondering if anybody had carried out an install on this system and how they went about disconnecting the thermostats (I read that terminating the wires behind the wall is a big no no and wanted to keep the cables in place but disconnect them safely) and how to identify what cable does what. I have attached pics of each component in my set up. Any advise is appreciated. Thank you all.

Hi Shaun thanks for your response the heating and water thermostat will look after the downstairs heating and hot water. I have also purchased a separate multi zone unit which will control the upstairs heating zone.

Yes, you can buy Hive Active Heating for the first zone for heating and hot water control (if you have a separate hot water tank) and Hive Multizone for each additional existing heating zone – up to three heating zones in total.

Yea so you have the extra zone kit that's great tbh your best option as you have multiple zones it's to get a pro in to wire it up

Any ideas what the rough cost would be for the install. I did initially plan on getting the install package with BG but they didn’t have any install slots for next few months.

(BG haven’t got any install slots for a couple of months so went for the self install option).

Mate like Shaun said get someone in to do it,hasn’t got to be aBG engineer. Ring couple local guys to you an ask if they’ve got experience fitting Hive or if they’re comfortable with doing it.Ive fitted a few,fair enough if you was just doing standard hive Ch & hw you could give it a go but it would take a lot of typing to explain how to do multi zone with your set up

I hate hive, its junk absolute utter junk. The only one I fit is NEST and I'm still not convinced on connected homes....in a few years peoples homes will be hacked by terrorists and we will have everything from Smart Meters to washing machines exposed.
