A new Baxi duotec 28 was fitted in Dec 2017 and the installer has just told me today the old boiler had water heating of 3.1 kW. Is this why my shower is less powerful and less hot since new boiler has been fitted?
I have a 4 bed house with 10 radiators. He recommended Baxi duotec 24 and the only reason I got 28 was because supplier didn't have the 24 on day of fitting.
I feel he perhaps recommended the 24 for ease and speed of fitting.
Any thoughts please?
Thanks

A 28kw boiler may have been installed, as the gas supply may not have been big enough to properly feed a 31kw boiler

28 kw should be ok for a normal shower

You don't have a rain head one do you ?

You will see a improvement as the cold supply temperature of the water coming into your property increases due to warmer weather . Kop

Thank you Kop
If only the installer could have given me a simple reassuring answer like yours. Roll on spring and we'll see. I hope you are right. After he has corrected all his checklist errors I don't want him anywhere near my house again.

No Shaun
Its adequate just not as good as it was... Luckily regular swimmer and showers in local pool are sizzling
Thanks

Has he check the filters ?

And is the shower hot enough or is it just the pressure?

Would that be filters on boiler or shower.?He has said he can't do anything with shower. He's not interested. I can't honestly say it's bad but just not what I had for many years.. A few degrees make all the difference

They probably should be checked sometime in near future. Confidence in getting right person severely dented at moment so I'll stick with my adequate temp for moment.
When you say turn water temp up do you mean within the workings of the shower?
Thanks Shaun

on the boiler you can adjust the water temp just a thought it may be set low?

any chance you could take a pic of the boiler?

Any pictures of the boiler?
Is water hot at other taps?

After boiler was first installed I had to get plumber back to increase temp. Couldn't have a hot bath. That he did but flow reduced.
I'm wondering if something as simple as turning stopcock more open if possible might make a difference.

Is that a job for a professional Shaun?

is your stop tap fully open and its set at it maximum

any chance you could take a pic of the shower please?

28kw should be more than good enough the only thing that can effect them is what kop said but as your shower is thermostatic it should compensate

Looks like a Mira Element recessed thermostatic valve shower.
Temp on that can be adjusted, can be a bit fiddly but not a big job.
May bring back the temps you have been used to with previous boiler.
Hope that helps,
Andy

Hot water will go up to 60, its possible that the thermostat in your shower may be on its way out, or shower temp setting may need adjusting.

Make sure you don’t have that guy back!

Oh he's coming back Dan.. Next week.. To complete a new commissioning checklist because the first had so many omissions and errors... Not even signed. Baxi suggested a new one be filled out.
I can't quite believe how I was treated... The worst was being threatened by his wife with the police being called if I "trespassed" to hand deliver the second email that was ignored.. All this after numerous texts and calls had also been ignored... I could go on. He will not set foot in my house again after completing the checklist ... Unless I am lucky enough to be accepted by Gas safe for a free check and he chooses to be there.

Seems like you have been treated badly barbara there is no excuse for not compleating the benchmark checklist , every gas appliance which needs registering with gas safe is entitled to a free gas safety check by a representative employed by gas safe all you need to do is tick the box in the paperwork that should have arrived with your gas safe certificate . as i have said before the water temperature coming out the ground this time of year is only around 10 degrees your boiler can only raise this by 35 degrees at a flow rate of 10ish litres a minute so if you turn your hot tap full on or your shower then the cold water passing through your boilers plate heat exchanger cannot be heated up enough to provide you with 55 degrees of hotwater the only way to get hotter water is to slow down the rate it passes through the boiler this is what your installer would have done at the stopcock or at the boiler , this is always a issue in winter with a combi boilers you could fit a flow restrictor (ECOSTAR PRODUCTS) to your shower head which will only allow 8 litres a minute of water to come through your shower head you will see the hotwater temperature will be better and you wont notice the slight drop in pressure as you can have a hotter shower , your baxi boiler has a 7 year manufacturers warranty and is a very good boiler and should give you years of service if you look after it and have it serviced every year . kind regards kop
