    just for info for everyone.... It seems some sort of rubber diaphram had split in half and got sucked into a fan. The final repair took about ten minutes. Thanks for all the suggestions though.

    it doesn't need topping up that more than about every 3-4 months or so I think. the other issues it has are randomly switching off and not heating radiators regardless of thermostat (I power off and on and it runs ok again) This does cause serious problems but not technical ones.     it was serviced 10-07-17 and every year previously. Does the suggested repair sound correct to you? PS - I've found a manual now.

    How do I calculate the correct radiator size to heat a room? There must be a formula somewhere even if its only rule of thumb ? Our current radiator is taking 4-5 hours to heat the room up to about 20C This seems excessive to me. The radiator does get hot and has been bled - no cold patches...
