    Bristan have a 5 year warranty. Call them and they will send out a new cartridge. If you push them they might fit it for free... But don't hold your breath.... Grohe are the only one I know that will come out to fit for free.

    I've seen a similar thing with Loctite 55 in the early days. It looked like someone had put hawkwhite and hemp on barrel pipework. The supervisor confirmed it was Loctite 55 and not hemp.

    The cutters seem to work ok and are reasonable quality. Time will tell if they will last. Just a bit worried they might break because the plastic seems quite brittle.

    Depends what the MIs says. Ive got a Belling in my house that says it can be installed on a flexible connection. I still installed rigid pipework though.

    I think Bristan was sold to china. Grohe will send out an engineer to change a faulty cartridge.

    Ive got the 504. Its basic but does the job. I don't use it day in day out so suits me. Like you say its £65 for a service and calibration and the sensors are long life.

    Gas cookers/ hobs only need to be notified on new build installations, I always notify so the customer gets a certificate.

    Unvented D1& D2 terminations

    It would be nice if they do updates on regs for unvented cylinders. I renewed mine last month and a couple of things caught my eye, high level termination is allowed back against the wall and discharge now has to be lagged if run external or in an unheated area.

    I own a powerflush and always quote with a boiler install. It also justifies 2 of us on a job.
