Hi all,

Looking for some help to identify my problem. Basically get poor pressure/flow around the house which is not limited to one faucet etc. Downstairs taps and shower is barely okay then upstairs the shower looses quite a bit of pressure. Outdoor tap also not 100%. I have a unvented system. All pipes etc were replaced no more than 8 or 9 years ago. Next doors neighbours have no problems with water pressure

Any help to help confirm what the problem could be would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,

Welcome along.

Did you check If the mains stopcock is fully open ?

Could you also tell us if you had any works done recently?
How long have you got the low water pressure issue ?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah all stopcocks etc are open.

Nothing's been done since it was all done. It's been a while now, when we first moved in it seemed okay and gradually gone worse over time. The biggest indicator of this is the shower upstairs. Originally it had okay pressure whereas now it is poor and the low pressure light is always on.

From what research I have done, some fingers seem to point to the PRV being too restrictive perhaps?

Hope this helps

So you have a pressure reducing valve on your mains coming in ? If so there should be a dial on the valve, what's it reading at ?

That's the thing there isn't a dial, I believe it's at a fixed pressure. Here's some pictures

That's true, you could have a blocked filter though. But please give us a little more help help with your installation.

It's an megaflo unvented indirect cylinder, what else would you need to know to help?

On the valve I took the bottom off and gave it a little clean to no avail, there was a little limescale build up but not much

Yeah that's fine, I haven't farted around with anything I was unsure about. Was just trying to see if people knew before I went in spending money.

I'm sorry I just send the mail quicker hab your pictures.

All good now. Thanks for the pictures Matt.

That's alright, need anymore? What I've got I don't think is of any help apart from what I've already sent

There notorious for failing best get a G3 engy in to replace it,

Would get him to test the pressure before the valve just to see what your incoming press and flow is

Yeah, that's been the general consensus from what I've read. Do you think the valve is what the problem most likely is?

Other than your main incoming pressure dropping yes

Normally prvs as they don't last for ages

That's great! Was hoping it was something like that rather than something more expensive (not confirmed of course)

If the prv is the problem, it's a relatively cheap job?

Thanks for the help

Depends on the plumber but shouldn't be such a expensive job. But I'd rather pay a decent plumber than having a bodge job done and pay twice

Well you're not wrong there!

Thanks both for all your help, I'll have to get on the phone now.
