Morning all. I hope you're all well. Wow has it been a long time since being on here. Work and family life is nuts at the moment. I hope you're all.busy as well (if that's what you want ).

I need some advice on running this basin waste. The spec shows it going into the toilet pan connector ( see picture attached). I know this isn't a good method but there are no other choices as the cast stack runs into an extension roof and so to get to it I would need to remove the tiles etc. Now I have not been able to find a pan connector with a boss on the side, only on the top. So is there anything anyone knows of? I will put a hep valve on the basin waste.

I cannot load a photo as it is not giving me a file option. Just asking for a url. Anyone, it is just a bent pan connector going into a collar of a cast pipe.

Thanks guys.

Ah thanks Shaun. I see now. I actually don't have a photo but I am sure you know what I mean.

I believe I have tried a boss before but the actual pan connectors are less than 100mm so the actual curve on the boss does not line up with the curve on the pan connector?

Any thoughts on tinning a pin hole leak on a lead pipe? Or do I have to cut it and put a piece of copper pipe in it?

Ah, do you mean use the pan connector with a boss already in it? If so, then this is actually quite high and would need a rather tall boxing to hide the basin waste. Ideally I would like one to be on the side.

Yes and no would this do in the pic ?

Ignore the grey clay adapter

Regarding the lead done a few is it damage or just pin holed due to age ?

If it's age best replace the lot as there's bound to be more

If it's damage e.g. Drilled through

Clean a good 10-20mm round the hole
Heat the area being careful not to get the lead too hot and add solder all the way round until no hole is there (best done with leaded solder)

Ah ha, looks good. Hopefully I can keep it low enough with all those fittings.

The waste on the pic (toilet) is 190mm centre to give you an idea

From floor level you could get away with 165mm

It must be due to age as it's the tiniest hole. It weeps. I have heard it can be tinned but as it is using lead it is not allowed. Even on lead.

It's a lead pipe so I wouldn't be too bothered :D

That's going to be fun

Cut the collar off /remove the old pan connector and cement and measure the inside dia of the cast to check a stnd pan connector will fit

Looking at you picture, I need a pice of pipe to go into the cast, then a coupling with a boss and then a pan connector.

Depends if a pan connector will go into the cast

I have never had a problem before with getting them in

Some are 90mm (somewhere round that) so you need an adapter from cast to 110mm

If it is stnd you should be fine with my link and a stnd pan connector

Yes, I have used the adaptors before. In your picture does that boss coupling have a pan connector on the bottom then?

Ah ha, sorry Shaun. I have only just come across your link now. I must be blind
