Anthony lewis

hi just moved into a new place and want to replace the radiator in the hallway. Measured it up and it's 1280mm x 610mm but can't find this measurement to buy. Am I mesureing wrong, is this an old size, or something else.

If it is the correct measurement could you please point me in the right direction to buy one. If it does not exist anymore how do I get around this.

Many thanks.

Anthony.

Its a imperial size radiator Anthony , you will have to go for a 1200 x 600 or 1400 x 600 cheers kop

Thanks for the reply.

If I go for 1200 x 600 will this just fit or will I have to buy extra pipe.

any chance of a pic?

You can buy spacers which screw into the radiator to make up the difference

Perfect was about to ask about these telescopic ones. Would they be okay to use.

Yes mate they will work or its a drain down job and alter the pipework cheers kop

Myson imperial sized roundtop radiators are still easily available.
They make a 21" x 49" in single, double extra and double - all convectors.
That size equates to approx 530 high x 1250 long, so very close and the standard solid extension tails would then do.
I don't like telescopic tails

Graham has various rads in strange sizes, if that helps.

Also, if it's that old, it might have the old-style valve tails which have no give in them, so might mean you'd need to change the valves to use the tail extenders discussed.

Starting to get complicated. Images below.

Please excuse the mess decorating.

The radiator has been painted over a few times which is why I want to replace.

Not really complicated as I think that's a modern valve that should work with valve tail extenders. Others will confirm/deny. Is that paint all over the nut?

Okay great thank. no not paint fair amount of dust from sanding this afternoon.

Thanks for all the replies will have a go.

Does it matter which end I use to match up as one end is by the front door and would be less noticeable.

My thinking was to put the radiator in the middle and have the extensions on both ends.

No it doesn't aslong as the lockshield valve uses a stnd 15mm nut (like on the other side)

Looks better to centre the new radiator on the valves IMO.

Hi all. Hope you have all been keeping well. A while back I decided I only wanted to fit one brand of boiler and decided on Viessmann due to space for servicing and changing parts if ever needing to. I am finding my decision rather hard due to the different clearances on flue runs and cupboards...
