Well I'll add a label to do not use to cover myself.
Until I can get to understand the Go ahead the owners the goods can stay right where it is mate.
Until then.
Been here before with people trying to get one over on you
Especially when when they're over 5 or 10 year

fyi you can get brought in and put on probation from gas safe by wrongly classing fault (ar / id)
 
Well I never thought of that.
When Is explained to gas safe today over the access and the situation to cover myself
Was told if I'm not going to investigate it'd be a cause for concern to label it do not use.
I've said this before
When they're back I can ask more questions and get answers
 
My probation was over years ago.
Don't know whether these people are used to banging noises and the neighbours. But if I weren't an engineer personally I'd turn off my own boiler or appliances for my own safety and the safety of others around until I could get a qualified person or persons assistance.

Quite Honestly I would not even go there.
If you are in a household with no one present you'll have no option but to stick a label.
Otherwise things are never done.
And personally this is where the cowboys come in through the back doors.
I've been a plumber over ten years and registered gas safe for the past three.

but the thing is you didnt do your checks you cant turn a boiler off because you dont like the sound or look of it unless theres something wrong with it eg falling off a wall, no flue etc
 
I Disagree with you. There are further issues just as I've tried to be as explicit as I 1st quoted

So I've turned it off regardless
Issued a label.
Its safe..
 
If there is a banging noise from the HE I wouldn't class that as anything, if for any reason you cannot do the basic checks after working on it i.e cant analyse, gas rate, test fsd etc, then I would potentially at risk it as you cannot confirm its safe, but if you can and it sounds like a plumbing issue, I would just note it down and advise not to use it, essentially you're classing that appliance as immediately dangerous without knowing the reason?
 
In regards to being at fault whether they call out anotger engineer or not
Quite obviously as far as ive entered im not happy with a banging boiler and a discharging prv
That's more than enough for me .
I'm not one of these type to be hanging new boileres on walls when it comes to faults.

So I'm potentially at fault for not checking burner press gas rate fsd
If the boiler is discharging and banging and there's no one present that's fine to be stripping down the job finding faults and replacing part or parts until they return
Get the job done and expect cash.
 
Yes you are at fault for classing a boiler as ar without doing any tests just because it's making a noise and prv blowing off

If I've seen a boiler and taken into account it's noisy
Turned it off
Stuck a label on it.
This is for the attention and safety of covering my bum
The owner is back now and as far as it is at the moment
Its a noisy boiler and what I had assumed .
The water in the calorifier is letting water into the heating circuit
Tap isolator is letting by when off
Causing the boiler when switched off to keep pressurising
The tap water immediately came out rusty a water category 5
To replace the part is £300 and a basket of a job to do.
Plus
A banging heat exchanger
A p0werflush- is this gonna solve the issue .. I don't think so.
Personally I don't think you're taking it seriously enough Shaun.
 
Phone gas safe up and tell them that and ask ar or id they will laugh at you

Got a 12mbar burner pressure 2mbar lower than MIs
I'm switching off an
 
Meter working pressure ?
 
Gas rated at 22 kW..
 
Meter pressures at 20.5mbars
And it's the only gas appliance in dwelling.
As in the picture
The iso was turned off from last
And have a standing mains pressure of 2.5bar

Clean the gas valve out there know for getting muck in them that should get you your figures on spec

What was the fga readings ?

One more question/s
Had burner pressure reading on max setting ( with clunk and banging) and a reading of 12mbars
Would that be the clunk and banging
MIs say it's 14mbars
The plate heat exchanger priced at £288 inc.
Removed CP12 and had explained the reason for constant build up of pressure.
Still can't work out why the pressure would still gradually up whilst tap rail isolator is fully off though!!!!

Did you test the bp after 10+ mins ? As I'm sure there's something in the manual about it must be after x amount

Isolate the cold into the boiler and run a hot tap

If system pressure drops there's a pass between dhw and heating so new hx or boiler

Clunking could be a few things old pump not pushing the water away fast enough or hx dirty from sludge etc
 
After all that I'm away..
These lot have left me without contact

Yes had run the boiler for around ten mins on full prior to the bp.
Listsening to clunk and bang and staring who I the face lol..
Left premises and no way going back for any further assistances.
Was actually fumed over not contacting me in any way in regards to their noisy banging appliance.
Yes had turns it off after leaving and explain ed I'm going to be busy and ALL the way up to Christmas
Sure they got a message
 
Just noticed the flue bodging
Had to go back left my wrench was right on top of the boiler
Looked at the flu..
Well there are not to any current standards.
This would have been one to add ..
The appliance was a 28iKW
MIs say a 14mar burner pressure or near to
Had a burner pres of 2mbars below MIs 14

Flue is correct, I would want to see what the duct tape was there for but I think it's just to seal the outer flue

Before you said the burner pressure was 12 and now 2 which is it ?
 
2mbars lower MIs are 14mbars
 
All in all has been a little headache
The silly thing is they're under obligation of keeping the old boiler and to repair.
 
Just a good old decent service and replacement of the ex vessel and you will be good to go and you will be fine

The pressure rise will probably be a pinholed main heat ex (between mains cold and heating side) and the banging could be the prv chattering due to overpressure
Have changed a couple of older Worcester twin pipe heat exs and they aren't cheap

by twin pipe, I mean separate waterways for heating and hot water (it;s actually 4 pipes) doh

I said heat ex straight off mate. But I get the impression he doesn’t want Any part in it? As he says there is a load wrong with it.
