can anyone explain these filters to me, if you slide the bar across does that isolate that side and can you remove that filter to clean. also what type of filter is it likely to have inside

the isolation valves either side were seized and as i didnt know what i was doing, the pipwork was 4 inch and the feed tank was 14 floors above me i'm ashamed to say i legged it, but i'm going to have to go back at sometime

To a booster set ?

no cold storage tank on roof, nothing as modern as that in this plant room, just lots of asbestos and decay.
that particular filter goes to the caloriers, but theres 3 others on the heating. theyre having problems with the water supply, thames water are trying to riggle out of it and i'm supposed to take that filter apart to prove its not blocked which i already know it isnt

i just neve seen one of those filters before and they are massive

Normally just a screen mesh and they do tend to require cleaning depending on stat of tank etc

Only one filter / side is used at s time

And you should be able to service live if the seals are still ok

The handle is your filter selection eg left or right

So atm the one by the tanks (red) isn't being used

Open drain off and confirm it's off etc then open up and inspect etc / clean
