Can anyone advise... I believe it is the central heating (for radiators) header tank that is overflowing from time to time - ie once or twice a day for a few minutes (it appeared to start again today shortly after the central heating came on - and then the pouring/dripping stopped after a few minutes.

But then again, earlier today it appeared to be dripping/running when the heating hadn't been on for 2-3 hours.
 
Basics first just check its only a third full when the heating system is completely cold .
Probably best putting a new ball valve in too .
Report back because it may be something else , dont worry about that yet though
 
Yes , we used to bend the old ones , the new ones will adjust but you still may have to bend it . Like I say a third full and then take it from there , obviously check the float isnt full of water while you do it lol
 
What would be the cause of the water level in there rising? I thought this tank was only to top-up the radiators - unless it isn't that tank where the overflow is coming from. Hm... a trip to the attic.
