access
Open access (OA) is a set of principles and a range of practices through which research outputs are distributed online, free of cost or other access barriers. With open access strictly defined (according to the 2001 definition), or libre open access, barriers to copying or reuse are also reduced or removed by applying an open license for copyright. The main focus of the open access movement is "peer reviewed research literature." Historically, this has centered mainly on print-based academic journals. Whereas conventional (non-open access) journals cover publishing costs through access tolls such as subscriptions, site licenses or pay-per-view charges, open-access journals are characterised by funding models which do not require the reader to pay to read the journal's contents or they rely on public funding. Open access can be applied to all forms of published research output, including peer-reviewed and non peer-reviewed academic journal articles, conference papers, theses, book chapters, monographs, research reports and images.Since the revenue of open access journals is earned from publication fees charged from the authors, there are concerns about the quality of articles published in OA journals.
I have a traditional style bath tap with shower attachment via a diverter. The lever no longer moves, and so I managed to unscrew the lever arm and the brass (colonial) piece, exposing the plastic diverter valve. Unfortunately, I am stumped as to how to get access to the diverter valve, as the...
I have a dripping bath tap. Seperate to the spout. Quarter turn level tap from the wall.
I need to change the cartridge as it’s dripping lots but can’t seem to work out how to remove the housing. Has this been installed badly behind the tiles?
I'm trying to access the inside of this tap but can't see any 'button' at the back, or similar. It's likely we'll be replacing this and the sink in a month or so but need to fix this asap of course.
I have an Moretti Aria monobloc kitchen tap with solid tap heads and no grub screws on the tap body. How do I gain access to change the cartridges please?
Hi
An idiot Bathroom fitter has cut down a soil pipe and fitted an AAV valve, then placed a built in bathroom cabinet with the soil pipe in the corner unit making the only easy way to access anywhere near the soil pipe by reaching up from where the kicker board goes.
You can see from the photo...
Hi folks
I live in 2 bedroom bungalow and question is about the soil pipe my plumber/bathroom fitter boxed into the corner base unit he fitted.
Question is the AAV seems as though its going to be a pig to access if needed
I notice that white plastic connector further down the soil pipe, would...

Good evening,
I have a question regarding the positioning (physical) of the Mag Filter in my recently installed Combi system. - Long story short, Iheat sent out some installers to fit a new combi. Upon servicing, a few 'issues; were highlighted on the service engineers' report. The boiler...
Hi. Would be really grateful for some help with this. I am trying to replace the fill unit in my toilet and the only way I can see that this would be possible would be if I could remove the tank from the bowl. However I can't seem to access the bolts to remove the tank. It seems to me that the...

Hi, recently moved into new house, (the house is four years old), the bath has very low hot water temperature, I'm assuming its an anti scald device?
The hot water in the rest of the house is fine, eg kitchen sink, utility sink, bathroom wash hand basins, etc, they all get nice and hot, its just...
We're having a new gas boiler fitted in the kitchen next week and I was wondering if anyone could advise me on what kind of access the installer will need to upstairs radiators? I was told the installer might need to access all the radiators in the house to drain the system. Is this correct? My...
Hi there, my shower runs hot then cold then hot then cold... To prevent i keep my combi boiler on low hot water temp setting. Tested all other taps etc and they're stable (can be consistently very hot if needed).
Suspect thermostatic temp cartridge knackered in shower.
Want to replace but cant...
Over the summer I completed a level 2 diploma in plumbing (City and Guilds 6035) with Able Skills and am now looking to complete the NVQ level 2. Access training are offering an assessment package for £1500, which is competitive, but I am now nervous given the reviews I have seen on here. I am...
Hi All
Looking to replace taps on a cast iron bath, accessing them is near impossible (i even had to remove toilet). The taps are old lifter type with brass 3/4" nuts that seem welded on! The basin is much the same tbh.
I have a tap remover set like this and after 10 mins of finally getting it...
I had to do work on waste pipe and uncovered this (as shown in the photograph) is it a access point that some one has either broken or left uncovered. There was just a cloth stuffed in it. It looks as though it is threaded. I would of investigated further but the people there were closing up and...
I want to change over a toilet seat but have come across an issue.
The screws holding the connection to the pan simply rotate, either left or right. Because of the pan design and location - I cannot access the back to see what's happening under the fitting.
Image0 - the underside, no access...
