isolating
An isolating language is a type of language with morpheme per word ratio of one and no inflectional morphology whatsoever. In the extreme case, each word contains a single morpheme. Examples of widely spoken isolating languages are Igbo in West Africa and Vietnamese (especially its colloquial register) in Southeast Asia.
A closely related concept is that of an analytic language, which uses little or no inflection to indicate grammatical relationships. Isolating and analytic languages tend to coincide and are often identified. However, analytic languages such as English may still contain polymorphemic words in part because of the presence of derivational morphemes.
Isolating languages contrast with synthetic languages, where words often consist of multiple morphemes. That linguistic classification is subdivided into the classifications fusional, agglutinative, and polysynthetic, which are based on how the morphemes are combined.
Hello,
I am fitting new taps and a shower mixer in my en-suite and was looking to isolate the hot water pipes. I have an unvented indirect heating system (have attached some photos).
I was wondering if the isolation valve that would shut off the water to the hot water taps is as circled in the...
If Isolating a boiler to determine if the leak is on the pipework or the boiler. If pressurising to 1.5bar then isolating the flow and return for an overnight test. Is it still acceptable to use the combi boiler for hot water? Expansion vessel located in the boiler.
Hey all, I'm relatively new to DIY pluming and I've found this forum super helpful so far This is my first time posting.
I've got a leaking isolating valve on one of the pipes running I think back to the boiler from just after the central heating pump. I'm pretty sure I've read that this...
Hi, just after the mains stopcock under my kitchen sink I have a tee, one pipe to drinkable water+washing machine and the other to the loft cisterns (talking about an open vented pumped S-plan system, standard here in UK).
I was wondering whether it is safe to add an isolating valve on the...

...on an unvented indirect solar cylinder: Same as a standard unvented cylinder? As in just turn off the main stopcock?
Not come across one before. Guessing it shouldn't alter the method but wanted to check.
Thanks
Hello chaps,
Just fitting some full bore isolating valves. No arrows on the casing for water flow direction.
The screwed joint is one side of the ball valve.
Is there any preference with which way to fit them ? Does it matter?
Cheers
More often than not when I go to do any work on a domestic system there’s no way of isolating what I want to work on so end up having the drain the system. To make things worse it’s surprisingly common there’s nowhere to drain the system.
Do other people find this too and if so why do you think...
I'm not a plumber. I know the answer may well be "quality" but can you professionals explain why? I attach links to two 15 mm isolating valves from Screwfix. I've used ones from the 10 pack often enough but they occasionally "weep" when turned on/off.
The pack of 10 costs £9.79 and a pack of...
I have a isolating stopcock in my bathroom but it switches off both the w.c inlet and the shower. As the shower plumbing is buried in the wall under the tiling, will my only option( for a sole shower isolating stopcock ) will be to install it in the loft? Would be glad of your advice. Thanks
Ive got a installer out fitting a new kitchen and doing a few mods to the existing pipe work. one of which requires turning off the mains water supply to the building in order to move the location of the cold feed stopcock located in the kitchen.
The fitter said he wasn't able to isolate the...
We recently had a bathroom renovation and although we are pleased with the result there were a few problems along the way and the job cost twice as much as estimated.
Our installer insisted we needed isolating gate valves adding to our cold water tank in the loft and to the Hot Water cylinder...

Hello all,
I'm looking for some advice on my radiator valves. I need to isolate and drain a radiator so I can remove it for decorating. I have a valve on either end that look like the attached photo. A quick Google suggests that they're lockshield valves. The question is, are the tops supposed...
Hi,
I have a dripping current valve.
Its after a bit of a saga with plumber. They have told me I will have to get entire new magnaclean that it is connected to. I dont think that is right and surely I can just isolate this valve from other valves in line, and then replace with another angled...
Hi All
I have replaced my toilets Bottom Entry valve and replaced the isolating service valve on the existing pipe. Problem I have is the bottom entry valve thread is just to short to reach the isolating valve for me to screw it in. (Picture attached)
Any tips on resolving this would be much...
Hi everyone,
