Pan-Africanism is a worldwide movement that aims to encourage and strengthen bonds of solidarity between all indigenous and diaspora ethnic groups of African descent. Based on a common goal dating back to the Atlantic slave trade, the movement extends beyond continental Africans with a substantial support base among the African diaspora in the Americas and Europe.Pan-Africanism can be said to have its origins in the struggles of the African people against enslavement and colonization and this struggle may be traced back to the first resistance on slave ships—rebellions and suicides—through the constant plantation and colonial uprisings and the "Back to Africa" movements of the 19th century. Based on the belief that unity is vital to economic, social, and political progress and aims to "unify and uplift" people of African descent. At its core, pan-Africanism is a belief that "African people, both on the continent and in the diaspora, share not merely a common history, but a common destiny". Pan-Africanist intellectual, cultural, and political movements tend to view all Africans and descendants of Africans as belonging to a single "race" and/or sharing cultural unity. Pan-Africanism posits a sense of a shared historical fate for Africans in America, West Indies, and on the continent, itself centered on the Atlantic trade in slaves, African slavery, and European imperialism.Pan-African thought influenced the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (now the African Union) in 1963. The African Union Commission has its seat in Addis Ababa and the Pan-African Parliament has its seat in Johannesburg and Midrand.
I need a new seat for a Bathstore Euro mono back to wall white pan e14. The seat was a euro mono sandwich seat white chr hinge
Bought in 2007. I know that bathstore went bust and homebase bought the old stock. I’ve searched online and found some replacement seats for the euro, but they don’t...
A few years ago I installed a wall hung toilet pan in my last house which did not flush well when disposing of waste solids.
The water would rise up to the rim then dissipate and usually required further flushing to complete the disposal.
I don't recall the brand but the wall mounting frame was...
Hey Guys
I’ve noticed this weekend that my en-suite toilet pan water level is seeming to regress after an hour. Toilet flushes as normal and water levels are all fine in the cistern.
If I flush the toilet and wait all looks fine. However after an hour the water levels have dropped by a couple...
Hey all. I'm installing a new toilet (Bunnings special...) in my ensuite.
I seemingly had it all connected properly, but when I was testing for leaks by flushing over and over it started leaking.. It seems like it's leaking where the rubber vario bend seal goes over the china toilet pan outlet...
Hi guys, I’ve got a close coupled toilet wher the waste come out of the back of the toilet then it’s a 90 degree bend to the right where it goes off through the wall. However with the 90 degree pan connector pushed into my soil pipe, the pan connector end isn’t long enough to reach the back of...
Installing a new toilet in a small cloakroom. The previous toilet was connected to the waste through a 5" plastic fitting that is attached (cemented) into the 4" soil pipe below. I can't seem to find any adapter or pan connector that will fit this ancient fitting - any advice? Or should I just...
Hi all, I have a problem. I have replaced the pan connector from the toilet to the waste pipe however it’s still leaking.
I’ve added plumbers mait which still didn’t fix the leak.
Is it possible to replace JUST the black seal in the 3rd photo attached with purple arrow? I can’t replace the...
Hi All.
Just wanna make sure that I'm doing this right.
Had a lot of difficulty getting the new toilet pan to sit where I want it. Nothing seemed to line up. I then discover that this offset connector will resolve all the alignment issues.
Rather than try to explain, I've provided some...
I have bought a new close-coupled WC that will be installed by a plumber. The plumber and I are currently in discussion about how it should be connected to the drain hole in the concrete floor. The situation is as follows.
The technical drawing of the manufacturer (Armitage Shanks) indicates...
After some advise please. Currently in the process or replacing a toilet. I was hoping to use the existing pan connector as it seems completely seized in the soil pipe collar. I'm worried I'll break the collar if I try and twist thr connector too hard. The front seal on the existing pan...
Our toilet which is a year old has begun to have a problem with its flush.
It flushes seemingly normally but then when the cistern has filled water comes down the pan for about 20-30 seconds then stops.
Hoping somebody has a fix for this :)
I have a wall hung Bellini toilet and Bidet of the same make. They are fastened to the wall with "nuts" on the bolts. But these nuts are fat and circular (not hexagonal etc), with holes on the circular surface. I can only reach them through the side wall of the loo/bidet, through a very small...
Not long bought a house with a second story loft conversion to dorma which contains an en-suite. Toilet in en-suite has a flex waste pipe from spigot directly to top of the vertical soil pipe with not much clearance. Soil stack has no ventilation on 2nd floor causing drain smell in the en-suite...
I am renovating my toilet and thinking of installing a Villeroy and Boch toilet suite (model "O.Nova 2.0").
Does anyone know if Villeroy and Boch toilets are good quality? Are they better/worse than Caroma or American Standard?
It’s time to buy a new toilet and I need to ensure that the one i buy will meet up correctly with the soil pipe outlet (sunk in floor), such that the cistern sits against the wall.
My question is, is it necessary for a pan spigot to fully insert into the soil pipe connector (McAlpine WC-CON8)...
I have discovered that the flexible connector from the WC pan to the soil pipe does not have all the "fins" pushed in and is weeping - that's easy to fix - but I'm wondering if I can address another issue at the same time while I have all the cabinetry off.
There does not appear to be any...
I want to change over a toilet seat but have come across an issue.
The screws holding the connection to the pan simply rotate, either left or right. Because of the pan design and location - I cannot access the back to see what's happening under the fitting.
Image0 - the underside, no access...
Hoping one of you can help
may the most recent job I’ve done I’ve had to fit porcelain pan connectors. Not sure if it’s the right thing to do, but I’ve used plumbers mate to seal it to the pan and the soil. I’ve tested them a lot and they have been fine, but one has started leaking. I’m worried...
Long shot I know. Anyone got the above with vertical earth pipe at the back. Tried all the usual outlets. Understand only Twyfords and Armitage Shanks did them so anyone got an AS would need the Cistern as well.
Cheers
Geberit Omega 82cm cisterns; 3 toilets - all the same. On the upper floors, the toilets flush sufficiently for the water to cover the full rim of the toilet and pan. On the ground floor, the flush seems weaker and the pan isn't fully rinsed by the flush. We've adjusted the flush volume but it...
