redundant

A redundant church is a church building that is no longer used for Christian worship. The term most frequently refers to former Anglican churches in the United Kingdom, but may also be used for disused churches in other countries.
Reasons for redundancy include population movements, changing social patterns, merging of parishes, decline in church attendance (especially in the Global North). Historically, redundant churches were often demolished or left to ruin. Today, many are repurposed as community centres, museums or homes, and are demolished only if no alternative can be found.

Can old redundant radiator pipes be used to feed water supply to new gas boiler ?

Hello all. I'm new to this forum and need some advice about some concerns about a new gas boiler that I have had fitted by a gas safe engineer. My old boiler was a heat only (with a copper tank) and has been replaced by a modern combi boiler. It just used two 22mm pipes to feed to the diverter...

    Removal of redundant gas pipe

Hi Guys, I am not a gas engineer but would like advice on a job I have been quoted. There is a high level gas heater that has to be taken out of service, around 5mtrs up. There is a chance we will want to re-instate it in a year or two so the unit will stay in situ. The room is used for storage...

Fitting a Blanking Cap to a redundant waste pipe

Hello folks I have what seems to be a standard 40mm white PVC pipe that used to hold the washing machine drain hose, which I wanted to cap off to avoid any water overflowing from (as my kitchen drainage seem to get blocked up easily, and it will probably be replaced within the next year). I...

Advice on capped pipe into boiler cupboard

Hi all, The attached pictures should say more than I can but basically there is a capped pipe into the top of our boiler cupboard (22mm). It is capped off here (see image 1). This then runs up to near ceiling level then turns 90 into external wall (see image 2). Image 3 shows possibly said...

New Flue through a redundant chimney

How do I stand with this? I have looked at a job (boiler change) where the existing boiler flue passes through an old chimney breast that is no longer being used. There will be no flue joints in the chimney but obviously no one will ever be able to inspect that section of flue passing through...

How do you seal off redundant pipes

Our extension will be built over a manhole for foul waste and a new rodding eye installed outside of the extension. Three pipes for foul waste from the existing house converge at this manhole which then turns into a single pipe running to the communal sewer under the new extension. Two of the...

    Old pipework

Went to a property, yesterday, where the occupier wanted me to remove some redundant pipework but I had to leave it as it's an old steel gas pipe to where a previous occupier had a gas fire (Still arguing about my GSR entry so I'm not yet legal). The thing is that as I was looking at it it just...

Hello, I installed a newark solarcyl 140lt thermalstore cylinder about 3 years ago(solar and immersion only). For various reasons it was never connected to solar panels, being heated with immersion instead. The house(log cabin) is about to be incorporated into a mini district heating system...

    advice on redundant soil pipe

I've had a good search and couldn't see anything that already covered this. It's probably common sense but I'm only home at week-ends so need the job to go smoothly as can't leave my wife with a stinky bathroom for the week. I've fitted a new toilet about 2 ft closer to the stack, compared with...

    Redundant iron gas pipes

What's people's view on the need to cap redundant gas pipes. E.g. Next to gas meters. I know in the regs it says that they should be capped with an appropriate fitting. Is it really necessary? Would filling it with fjc or similar suffice? Would gas safe pull you up on it if it wasn't done...

Using the redundant feed to the cylinder coil when fitting a combi.

Hi all. I've done something I don't do much of today. Fitted a combination boiler. I tend to fit system and HO boilers. To give you an idea, the last combi I fitted was during the scrappage scheme. My question is: Does anyone use the redundant flow to the cylinder coil to knit into the old...
