The Removing Wardrobe was a sub-department of the British Royal Household. It was responsible for looking after the furnishings which travelled from palace to palace. The office was headed by the Yeoman of the Removing Wardrobe (a sinecure office), assisted by two grooms and three pages, all appointed by the Lord Chamberlain. The department was abolished in 1782.
Hi,
I'm trying replace a basin waste and I cannot get the chrome ring attaching it to the trap undone. It's not a nut so using a wrench with rag is just slipping. I've tried release spray but still no movement. Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Andy
Hi All,
I have two sets of radiator pipes that need removing. Although neither set of pipes have radiators on them anymore they are both still connected to the system and contain water.
A plumber I have spoken to says to remove them he'll cut the pipes vacuum out/up any water and then cap them...
I have been given a quote to fix a noisy tap.
Apparently they have to “replace breech to main shower” — which I understand to mean the thing one level behind any normal work on a tap. (“It is worn down and still has a small crack in it.”)
“This will have to be done through the Gyprock wall...
Hi all,
I'm completely inexperienced at this, but my kitchen taps are ancient, and the water has started dripping. Rather than just change the washer, I want to change the entire thing to a mixer tap that supports two holes. I think I've figured most of it out except for the part where I...
Hi,
Just wondering if the 4" stack pipe shown on the attached photo can be removed and capped at ground level?
The bathroom was originally upstairs and now relocated to downstairs with the waste plumbed directly into underground pipework.
Not sure whether this is still required for the...
Hi,
Could anyone offer me any advice as to how to remove the top from this tap? I’ve tried twisting, pulling etc. but all to no avail.
Short of smashing the hell out of it, I’m stuck with it, the dripping and my wife’s moaning.
Any help gratefully received.
Cheers
Nick
Bathroom towel rail with straight lockshield valves as in picture. Can't remove the top to tighten gland nut as it is leaking. Must be possible to remove but I can't and don't want to force it off.
I have an overflow pipe (standard diameter 21.5mm) sticking out through a hole in a white uPVC fascia board at our house, but the overflow pipe is no longer required and could be removed. However, before removing it, I need some way of capping the hole - a white barrel plug, for example. Does...
Hi
I'd like to demolish this concrete and replace so as to move it 30cm to the left.
can I presume this is a vent. if so, can I vent it up the wall and not have to have the concrete feature to trip over ?
thanks

I have a twin control, 2 way diverter and temperature knobs, Noken NK Porcelanosa mixer with really stiff controls. I'm trying to identify replacement valves but....
I can't find any way to remove the knobs. There are no obvious access points for grub screws, no covers or removable radial bars...
Got all my stuff together to finally fit the recirculation pump to my hot water tank, but I can't budge the immersion element.
I need this out because a) I'm fitting solar which will be used to heat the hot water and although the fitted element has not been used so far, it's been in maybe 20...
I tried for hours to get a round drain cover out so i cam replace it with a new one... will they always come out ? at this point im sure its attached to the square. I've tried twisting it with tools, pulling it with tools, soaking it in oven cleaner, wd40, and scraping around the sircle with a...
Advice needed on replacing stopcock. I can’t tell what sort of pipe the mains is or how it’s been connected. The pipe appears to be metal and is almost twice the size as the main pipe work in the kitchen. The stopcock has what looks like a normal compression joint at the top to the copper piping...
I’m looking to get some advice on how to remove a stubborn kitchen tap.
The sink is ceramic and I’m very reluctant to take a grinder or any power tool to the tap. The fixing plate is secured by a plastic nut. Not a brass nut. You can fit a box spanner over the plastic nut, but it doesn’t...
Hi. Would be really grateful for some help with this. I am trying to replace the fill unit in my toilet and the only way I can see that this would be possible would be if I could remove the tank from the bowl. However I can't seem to access the bolts to remove the tank. It seems to me that the...
I have a Smeg MDQ5-CSP tap that needs a new cartridge (part number 68503). The MDQ5-CSP tap is in a difficult place to remove, so I am planning on replacing the cartridge in situ. To replace the cartridge I need to remove the square handle (part number 113453). I have removed the cap which...
Hi, I'm trying to remove the kitchen tap, it was installed around 2009. I can't seem to unscrew the connector, I've tried a variety of tools from a basin wrench to plumbers grips, access is tight but I can't move it. Can anyone give me any advice? I have called my plumber but he hasn't responded...

Hello all,
I've read 1 valve radiator removal on this forum (123730) and other such threads.
The reason I'm apprehensive to start is because unlike the Gas boilers I'm used to from the UK. Now I'm living in Denmark I'm dealing with a RTB10K (Ready to Burn).
