speed

In everyday use and in kinematics, the speed (commonly referred to as v) of an object is the magnitude of the rate of change of its position with time or the magnitude of the change of its position per unit of time; it is thus a scalar quantity. The average speed of an object in an interval of time is the distance travelled by the object divided by the duration of the interval; the instantaneous speed is the limit of the average speed as the duration of the time interval approaches zero.
Speed has the dimensions of distance divided by time. The SI unit of speed is the metre per second (m/s), but the most common unit of speed in everyday usage is the kilometre per hour (km/h) or, in the US and the UK, miles per hour (mph). For air and marine travel the knot is commonly used.
The fastest possible speed at which energy or information can travel, according to special relativity, is the speed of light in a vacuum c = 299792458 metres per second (approximately 1079000000 km/h or 671000000 mph). Matter cannot quite reach the speed of light, as this would require an infinite amount of energy. In relativity physics, the concept of rapidity replaces the classical idea of speed.

Circulation pump with electrical speed switching for wood boiler stove

Can anyone help, please? I'm looking for a heating system circulation pump for a domestic install, with 3 speeds, where the speed can be toggled electrically as well as via a push switch on the pump body. I'm using this pump with a wood boiler stove, where I want to run the pump at its slowest...

    Grundfos MLE 132E speed control

We have a Grundfos for a domestic water booster application. Everything is set up for constant pressure, discharge pressure sensing and all appears okay, except we cant get the motor to run in "auto". We can run in manual at a constant speed, okay. But we try and go to control, the pump will...

    Boiler pump speed alternating

I have a Worceseter Greenstar 12i feeding an indirect cylinder and two central heating zones, controlled by a 3 channel programmer. The heating zones have a thermostat each and TRVs on all the radiators except the towel rail. Whenever the system demands heat - to the cylinder, a heating zone, or...

    Grundfos ups3 pump, what speed.?

Hi, recently had a Grundfos ups3 Pump fitted and get a hissing noise out of it and then 2 of the closest radiators start to gargle, I’ve change the speed down to constant 2 as it was on constant 3. Would constant speed 1 be ok as its a bungalow with 8 radiators.? Thank you.

Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i Pump Speed

Can anyone tell me if the greenstar 24i circulating pump modulates? i have been looking at param 2.1c which references settings 0 to 4, i know the factory default setting is 4 (constant high pressure) which to me implies that it would not modulate on this setting, does it need to be setting 0 to...

Glowworm 30HXi condensate trap outflow speed

Hi I inherited an LPG burning Glowworm 30HXi when I moved into my house some years ago. Great little boiler but had been neglected. I cleared a lot of debris out of the heat exchanger and chamber at base, on top of the condensate trap. I always flush several litres of water through the trap...

gate valve and vent on header tank outlet to speed future work

Hi, about to replace some radiators, so need to drain system. While i'm doing it I'm thinking about doing a mod to make future drain downs quicker: Idea is adding a gatevalve on header tank outlet, and just below the gatevalve add a tee to a pipe that goes up to above tank level with another...
