vent
A hydrothermal vent is a fissure on the seafloor from which geothermally heated water discharges. Hydrothermal vents are commonly found near volcanically active places, areas where tectonic plates are moving apart at spreading centers, ocean basins, and hotspots. Hydrothermal deposits are rocks and mineral ore deposits formed by the action of hydrothermal vents.
Hydrothermal vents exist because the earth is both geologically active and has large amounts of water on its surface and within its crust. Under the sea, hydrothermal vents may form features called black smokers or white smokers. Relative to the majority of the deep sea, the areas around submarine hydrothermal vents are biologically more productive, often hosting complex communities fueled by the chemicals dissolved in the vent fluids. Chemosynthetic bacteria and archaea form the base of the food chain, supporting diverse organisms, including giant tube worms, clams, limpets and shrimp. Active hydrothermal vents are thought to exist on Jupiter's moon Europa, and Saturn's moon Enceladus, and it is speculated that ancient hydrothermal vents once existed on Mars.
Hi all. I'm struggling for inspiration on a very small bathroom. One of the issues is that the soil pipe goes straight up the middle of one of the walls. My question is, can a AAV be used on the main stack to a house? I've always thought it's a no no but I'm being told other wise. Any afvice...
Evening all, I have been researching what could be the reasons behind my system sucking air through the open vent on the gravity feed central heating system. What I know....
The system was installed more 30 years ago and I believe looking at the pipework/soldering of the fittings that Jack was...

hello,
I am designing a soil pipe for a timber bungalow that I am building where the soil vent pipe needs to be offset on a gable wall away from the main soil pipe. I have put in a link to a drawing I have made with my idea. Your advice is welcomed

I have a problem with a new radiator (badly designed) where I need a bleed value that bleeds from the top instead of the middle of the value. Don't know if there is such a thing, can't find one.
The issue is that the radiator has 4 upright columns that are linked at the top by a round pipe. The...
Hi guys,
My house is a new build and cannot believe that the plumbing was done by plumbers at all, it is a disaster. Have slowly been correcting bits over the last couple of years. The vent pipe was crooked over the tank about 10cm above the water level line. I seem to remember 450mm being...
I'm having a new oil boiler and cylinder installed, upgrading from a vented system to unvented. The plumbers wanted to put in a 22mm internal pipe for the mains water, replacing the existing 15mm one, and have done this by repurposing the old boiler vent pipe, to save putting in a new pipe...
My stove has been plumbed up to a thermal store without a vent. The plumber originally had one and the system didn't work by gravity so when he put the pump on to circulate the water it must have pumped out the vent and he just cut it off and blocked it. I got another plumber to look at it who...
Was have a trianco trg45 boiler and one of the flueways at the back has become blocked solid. The tool provided can't shift it and it's awkward to get at. Is there a chemical or something I can use to soften up the compounded soot. Any help would be gratefully received
Have inherited a half cocked system which am now trying to sort. Attached is a photo of the setup. well part of it. Am just being certain what the 2 pipes on the top of the air seperator are.Think I am correct in saying the 22mm pipe is the vent and the 15mm pipe is the feed/expansion one.
Is it...
Hi
I've got a 100mm in-line fan to extract air from the bathroom and was hoping to use what I see as a shortcut for the outlet.
There is a soil stack in the same loft space the I thought maybe I could branch into. That would save me drilling through walls OR using a vent cowl & insulated...
Hi all.

Hi,
We have an old Baxi Bermuda 552 in our kitchen diner (installed in 1989). We have recently had our window and wall taken out to install patio doors. The air vent for the boiler was removed at the same time. We need to install a new vent ASAP as I am aware that this could be quite dangerous...

Hi. I wonder if anyone could shed any light on this. We have a first floor bathroom. Everytime we drain the bath, the bathroom sink (which is about 4 feet from the bath) gurgles and quite often, the bathroom fills up with the smell of sewer gases. The bath, sink and toilet are draining fine...
I thought a toilet always needed a vent pipe?
I've just come across a ground floor toilet in a residential property where the waste pipe disappears into the ground and there's no soil stack around, except that of the neighbour on the other side of the party wall!
Hi , I've been to see a job today to discuss fitting underfloor heating.
The customer has a new (5 month old) Vaillant heat only boiler fitted in the garage .
Pipe work leaves top of boiler is elbowed down underneath the boiler and then goes to pump then three x two ports valves (up heat...
Hi all,
Need some advice
We have just had a new gas heating system installed in our Housing Association bungalow,
on the outside wall near the boiler is a copper vent pipe in 15 mm copper pipe and elbows,
We had the same setup at our previous house it is for (I think ) any overflow of liquid...
I think my heating system is sucking air in through vent pipe.
My heating system is as follows, boiler, pump, motorised valves then I think the vent pipe is after these. Does this sound wrong. I've taken a picture but Iam having trouble uploading it. Thanks
