y plan

The Y Plan is an exercise programme devised by Lesley Mowbray and Jill Gaskell for the London YMCA, and very popular in United Kingdom during the 1990s.
The programme is choreographed by Producer Jane S. Linter and distributed by Virgin Media Group. Emphasising short but regular workouts without any specialist equipment, the first book based on the programme, titled The Y Plan, was published in 1990.
Television presenter Anthea Turner was the public face of The Y Plan, appearing alongside the creators in numerous books, videos and magazine features. A further video was made, entitled Y-Plan countdown, in which one does an exercise regime of 36 days, with three levels of difficulty.

Hi, I have just installed a Tado system with the Wireless Reciever and Two Smart Thermostats. Without getting into the weeds of Tado, I want to energize the CH system all the time. But Why? I have two thermostats which control a demand valve each which when opened kick the boiler and the...

Ufh to y plan with upgrade to s plan

It looks like I have 2 options. The first uses the existing pump, the second uses another pump to pump water exclusively to the ufh manifold and pump. I have already taken off a separate flow and return from the top of the boiler. I would like to know which would work best. Any advice welcome...

Valves on Y plan is this normal?

Attached is a drawing of current valves on Y plan. All are gate valves and dirty at that so will change for ball valves. What I would like to know is the following What is the purpose of valve C. It is a 22mm valve on 28 mm pipework Obviously valves A and B isolate the radiators and the DHW...

Change to S plan or stick with Y plan

I currently have a 28mm Honeywell 3 port valve that works, most of the time, occasional blip by ball sticking or staying mid position or whatever. I have a pair of 28mm Honeywell 2 port valves and have contemplated for a while ditching the 3 port and fitting these. This obviously entails some...

Automatic Bypass Valve After Mid-Position Valve

I've just replaced a couple of radiators in my Y plan system which now means that every radiator has a TRV. I don't have a good candidate (such as a towel radiator) to leave with two lockshields so I need to install an automatic bypass on the heating loop. My boiler/pump/mid-position valve...

Setting up a balancing valve on a cylinder coil on Y plan?

Whether it be the usual gate valve or the more correct lockshield valve. Jennie raised a point elsewhere on this forum and someone mentioned the purpose of these being 'by reducing the flow, the coil will remain hotter longer. Thus heating the water quicker'. Makes no sense to me as reducing...

Gurgling from primary circuit, Y plan system

I've noticed that my hot water primary circuit has started gurgling a lot. My system is a conventional 'y' plan and the controller will not allow heating without hot water. The gurgling is at it's worst when there is only hot water demand. I'm pretty sure there's no air in the system and in any...

Timer replacement on a y plan system

So went to a job today, replaced an old Randall 130 mechanical timer with a Honeywell st9400c on a y-plan system. Water channel fine. Heating channel was fine in that it sent a signal (if the room stat was calling) to the 3 port, but nothing on SL. Figured a faulty head. Replaced the head and...

hi everyone I’ve noticed a small issue with my heating and it’s bugging me because I can’t put my finger on what’s causing the radiators to randomly come on when our Nest therm is off. I don’t think the Nest is at fault because the heat link is not showing “Heat on” lights when the boiler...
