Taken aback today drove past H.M.James and son today to find the shop closed down and empty....been there in Romford Road London E12 for at least 40 odd years that I know of and you could get almost any of the older sanitary wares even the odd colours all at a price of course.....will be missed by many ...I have previously recommended them to some of the members/users of these forums....sad day really....regards Turnpin

I'm guessing the son didn't want to carry on with the business, probably wants to be a software developer instead.

Hope you are well mate .

Yes I agree , I hate seeing any business close, especially the specialist ones. We had a localish one close last year that sold every nut , bolt , washer, grub screw ,etc etc every made , you never went in and didnt come out with what you wanted .
Main blame in my eyes = internet
We cant live without it but it doesnt half bring its fair share of problems.

Probably the internet played its part along with the rise in shop rates and the economic climate......surprised no one blamed Brexit lol....joking aside once these shops leave the high street they won't becoming back....most likely become a fried chicken shop or such like..oh well we'll have to soldier on......hope you had a great Christmas and I wish you all the best for the New Year....regards Turnpin:)

Luckily we still have our old school, independent plumbers merchant still in Bristol. It's called George Jones, and has probably been there since the days of lead pipes.

Great place for matching up parts for older coloured bathroom suites. MIL's pampas coloured cistern cracked last year, and they had one to match in stock. Try that at Plumb Centre. Also good selection of ceramic cartridges and expert help matching things up.
