Hi all,

I have recently had a dishwasher fitted for the first time in my house and now I'm noticing the water from the tap taste's strange (chemically)
I'm not sure if this is even related to the dishwasher but it is too much of a coincidence.
Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? and what to try/buy to solve it? I have called the local water board who will be calling me tomorrow.

I thought it might need a no-return valve between the hose and cold water isolation switch? but the isolation valve has a arrow pointing down which my understanding means that the valve is already "no-return"?

Thanks

The arrow doesn't necessarily mean it's got a non return valve in it.

Is the take off point for the dishwasher in between the main stop tap and the sink or after the sink?

I think they should ask the installer, don't you ???

Run that taps for a bit ( if a water meter isn't a concern )
some crud could have been disturbed ! (faster flow in not used recently places)

I will try but its been like this for 2 days now.

Just an update I turned the isolation tap off to the dishwasher and the water now tastes fine again so it's definitely something to do with the hose. I will still phone the installers to see what they say but if I was to fit a check valve is this what I would need to buy and is it a straight forward fit?

I can taste a fresh plastic Kettle -YUCK
( was thinking of suggesting an older hose / then thought how rank mine was on my washing machine-probably taste of washing powder ! )

Try changing the hose first op

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
