I have often read that you cannot connect a hob with a flexible connection under Gas Safe rules and regs. I was also told this by my gas fitter. Just in case you are not aware there is now a way, albeit a "semi-rigid" pipe, but to all intense and purposes it is a flexible. See Screwfix part no 5802V - Tesla Semi Rigid Steel Gas Hob Connector £19.79. Tesla Semi-Rigid Stainless Steel Gas Hob Connector 16mm x 1m DN15 3 Pack

You have often been reading the wrong information.

Gas safe do not make the rules and regulations either.

Check out the relevant British Standards on cooker and hob connections. Here you will find the correct information.

It's not a one fits all rule.
The Only time you can use a flex connection is if th manufacturers instructions say so.
I have personally not come across one. So in that case, gas safe and British standards rule.
I think screwfix are very irresponsible, by selling these kits. Making it look like you can do it that way .

Check out BS:2010+A1:2017.

A flexible hose may be used to connect a hob unless the manufactures instructions say otherwise.

All disable fit properties I have worked on have had a flexible gas cooker hose connection. I am under the impression that they can be used, but only when the hose is accessible and not when there is an oven below the hob?

I'm guessing they had a rise and fall table with the hob on ?

Inset gas hobs are fitted rigid pipe and with good measure a form of isolation
Eg: butterfly isolator. For servicing-replacing- or removal purposes
And yes
Induction jobs are the electric type hob
And quite brilliant too.

I would like to see where it say that a hob has to be on a rigid connection. I have always been taught on every ACS that I have ever done that a hob can be on a cooker hose if there is no oven underneath it. I have never ever fitted a hob on a cooker hose as I think the idea is stupid. But I never mark it down on a service or a LGSC if there is no oven underneath it.

Never said it Had to. And yes I have seen an inset gas hob with flexi hose connection.
Personally I'd rather fit an inset hob with rigid pipework and a form of isolation.
As this seems both to secure to the hob once pipework is clipped and fixed in place along with the under hob fixings and sealed.
And yes adhere to your manufacturers instructions..

Hi all. Just discovered the flexible tap tails are too short to reach the isolation valves by about 60mm. When I did the same type of job at my house, I learnt that using a tap tail connector is better than connecting directly to the iso valve, with its sharp edge. However, these are too short...

A domestic Gas Standard pre-payment Meter was exchanged for a Gas Smart Meter (SM) and then connected back to the pre-existing pliable/semi-rigid/anaconda connectors. I believe this is illegal and breaks laws and regulations when this was done on 30 March 2017. But my Utility company who had the...
