How can i hide these pipes?

I've just had central heating fitted in my house and im really struggling to find anything which I can use to cover these pipes. I gathered someone here on the forums may be able to help me and provide me with information on where to purchase the parts needed.

options limited really.timber boxing.keep it tight to wall with a door stopper to prevent the door hitting the boxing.paint it up same as wall.not ideal but as i said options limited.

HI. By the look of it, you would have been better to change the plumber.
You will need to form a box from batten, plaster board and angle bead once complete get someone to plaster it. Just screw 2" x 1" batten to wall either side of pipes, plumb it up with level, cut and screw on plaster board to form boxing fit angle bead and plaster and paint. Good Luck

Yeah he was only £2100 for full house, 6 radiators and a towel rail, decent boiler also.

All is working fine, just need to get these pipes hidden as they look horrible.

Looks like a decent cut in the roof was going to be extra as it looks like he's just drove the pipes through.

Is there any plastic casing available to cover things like this?

What can i say, You buy cheap you will get cheap. like the other guys said 2 battens (1 either side of pipes) with either plaster board or sheet of ply/mdf etc over the top nailed/screwed to battens. lick of paint jobs almost a gooden, bar the missing clips and the pair of false teeth the guy used to chomp out those holes in the ceiling with lol.

i would say had they been clipped you can buy square conduit that clips over the pipe clips (2 together) and looks nice n tidy, but no clips no conduit,

just box it mate. best thing you can do.

Dont mean to sound silly, but can you explain or even better show me a picture of what battens are? I suppose ill be able to pick them up from b&q?

you know. a big long piece of wood, usually rectangular or square. looks like a skinny floor board. made of timber most of the time.



Like this those bits of wood either side are Battons. you then place a sheet of wood over them from left to right hence covering the pipe.

Ah just like latts you place behind plasterboard to step it away from the wall.

a decent boiler and fittings weould come to 1400 so only 700 fitting was well cheap..was he corgi registerd as the powerflush as well meant you got a bargain or he was a plumber who got a mate to sign off the installation

No he was registered, i checked it out also. I'm in the united kingdom. Although that part of the job looks ridiculously bad, he's done a great job down in the basement (which im turning into a kitchen) there was so many pipes to run above the sealing and its all come out really neat.

I was wondering guys, could i build the casing for the pipes on the floor (not attached to the wall) and then just fit it after? I guess that would work also?

I have a funny feeling this guy was watching a lot of Jeremy Kyle at the time and wanted to get out of the house so priced the job accordingly...£2100 for Boiler, 6 Rads and Towel Rail....that isnt going to pay him too well!

I particularly like how he just knocked a hole in the ceiling with a hammer for the pipes to go through...

It wasn't just one person, it was a company, the plumber came and took measurements etc. Then the owners wife (the owner was a builder) sent me the quote of 2100 in the post.

Yeah i dont think they would of made any money to be honest, as they was doing it for around a week, way too long to spend on a job for that low amount of cash.

Why not use cill board guys?
Timber either side of pipes and say you have 8'' from timber 2 timber then just use 8'' cill board, use white screw caps to hide the screws, would look very neat and would be cheaper than plasterboarding and then getting in a plasterer?

if one of those pipes is gas it needs some clips to comply
