What's the preferred thread sealant these days for larger stuff?
Can't see and hemp and pase, or has it been cleaned off?

Use Loctite '55 generally - some specs still ask for Hemp but not done it for a long time.

Wow! And that's good enough for 2" mild steel.
I've not tried it yet, but do you have any problems with it? Apart from being expensive!

Yep fine up to 2" never ever had a leak due to the loctite! It really is fantastic stuff! I weld anything over 2".
