Can someone explain to me exactly how a faulty flow switch can cause an oil combi to trip a high limit stat?

If flow switch sticks on then burner will continue to heat boiler but tap will not be taking away heat. Thermostats may not cut in quick enough.
Warmflow combi?

Thanks for the reply. No it’s a Mistral. What you said was my understanding but just wanted a second opinion.
