My rothenberger blow torch isn't self igniting though you can still see it making a spark, why is this? Work perfectly if I use a lighter. Don't understand it with still making a spark when I press ignite.

Take the gas bottle off so you don't run the risk of burning yourself, use a small flat screwdriver and carefully move the spark electrode closer to the tube where the gas travels through the torch if that makes sense. Happened to me before and that solved it. It did eventually happen again and I couldn't get it to work, went to order a repair kit from Rothenberger but they wanted £35 for it so just bought a new one and kept the old as a spare on the van that will light using a lighter.

I couldn't get mine apart as the Allen key headed screws had corroded.

Trouble I have had with them is the thread that screws onto gas bottle seems to wear away, now have 2 that wont attach to gas bottle, so keep them for spare parts

Probably wise to have the torch threads very slightly greased to stop wear on the alloy threads.

I had this last year, I emailed my local Rothenberger rep & said that it just stopped working. He said I should return to place of purchase which I replied I couldn't & he said no problem then sent 2 free repair kits out free of charge. (came with everything but the black body)

2 reasons, damp has got into the piezo, so spray some contact improver and warm it up on a rad till dry. And/or there is crap in the burner caused by carbon or as in my case the apprentice dropping the hot nozzle onto a customers man made carpet!

Has a Superfire 2 for over 10 years and had this problem a few times. Usually tends to be damp or flux/crap that gets down the nozzle. Pull outer nozzle off and give it a good fettle and dry off

Get a surefire kit!
