Just finished one, for a farmer. Cheapest tiles he could find, no bath for two days, then turns up with no waste or taps. Wants the taps off the old bath re-using. Plastic cladding to ceiling, chrome towel rail and re-fit old toilet in new position. All done, they've spent three days telling me it looks great and I give them my bill. Ceiling was extra as only above shower was supposed to have been done. Puts my bill on table and says will sort it later. I say well if you don't sort it by midnight you can add another 5% to it. Face was priceless, I explained that after he took 6 weeks to pay for the cylinder swap the previous year I had changed my terms and conditions. Payment required immediately upon completion or +5%.
Anyway still waiting.

Turns up today at my next one, full bathroom, lose the bidet, rad out towel rail in and brand new shower above bath. 100% tiled on walls and floor and plastic cladding to ceiling.
Well b and q bathroom in a box parked in the garage, great. Gets in the house and he turns round and says we'll have to pick tiles up over the weekend. Bearing in mind I should have started this job 2 days ago. Quick conversation around tiles today or I might as well go home. Anyway water off, stripped out, no mains cold under bath for shower, plan b kicks in, only mains in the bathroom is the basin on opposite side to shower and chipboard floor. Never mind. Carts all the gear downstairs and for a change I'm removing all the rubbish, skip at home next week to have a good clear out. Next thing the blokes son is outside shotting the rad in the back of his car and stripping all the metal off the old suite. Another quick conversation and now they are getting rid of all the rubbish, don't you just love greedy folk. Tells them I'll be back in the morning at 8. We'll try and be up!, is the response. 🙂 🙂

Looking forward to a nice combi install next week for a rest and chill out.

Rant over, I'm off to bed.

I usually stick to 1-2 bathrooms a year - much prefer repairs and heating side of plumbing. I find with bathrooms that you can be there for 2-3 weeks and only spend 1 day with proper plumbing as the rest is painting, woodwork, tiling, adjusting skirting boards, door, etc.

Sickened myself today, was going back tomorrow to tile the floor but can't be bothered. In the last three weeks its been three consecutive bathrooms and I've done about 1.5 days 'plumbing'. I was hoping to be coming to the end of bathrooms in time for the silly season and already booked some in for spring, but they just keep coming.

Latest one, bloke has spent 18 months doing his en-suite, but nothing is connected and there's no wastes. The job is to connect it all up and test. Organised to go last night and had his mobile as his directions where crap. Gets down there, can't find the place, phones him, no answer, give it 5 mins, no answer, left a message and rufo'd home. Phoned me as I walked through the door home, lets just say it was an interesting conversation.
