Alphabeater

Hi, I have a Baxi Solo 2 40pf boiler under a maintenace plan with 'Heatteam' after returning from 2 weeks holiday (boiler switched off before ) and switching on the boiler for hot water, no pilot !! the spark continually tried to start the pilot but to no avail ! I called the Heateam hotline and arranged an Engineer visit. The next day he arrived and after 2 hours (continually blaming the dirt in the gas pipe had got thru everywhere and that i shouldnt have turned off the boiler) he replaced the Pcb ,gas valve and managed to break off the spark electrode cable to the pcb at this point he explained he couldnt test the replaced parts as he did not carry the cable and I would have to book a return visit !! great ! he also asked me if I had had the boiler serviced, but I had already explained i hadnt earlier on in the proceedings and he indicated that a service generally only cleans the burner and jets etc...I am worried there could be a sting in this one and if it cannot be fixed blame the lack of servicing and debris in the gas pipe !!! Anyway i re-booked a visit and the earliest they could do was tues 16th Aug ( 4 days without hot water !!) any ideas on the problem or where I stand in the event of Heatteam using the lack of servicing as an excuse to walk away ?? the boiler cover plan states £1500 of repairs per year !! Regards...

Sound like the guy was out of his depth in diagnosing the fault and just started throwing parts at it.

Alphabeater ... There's only the pilot hood and injector left to replace! Sounds like the whole issue is a fault with pilot detection. They're not that complicated these boilers but setting up and adjusting the pilot correctly can take a bit of time sometimes!

The guy is giving you a lot of excuses by sounds of it! Hopefully the next bloke will get it sorted for you 🙂

Thanks for the heads up !! here's hoping tuesday gets a result ! 2 weeks in spain then returning to no heating or hot water is a bit of a pain but to be fair boiler issues in the past have been remedied pretty quickly, just couldnt understand why having the boiler switched off for 2 weeks would cause this to happen ?? mind you thats probably why i'm not a heating engineer 🙂 cheers .....

Actually it's a bit like going on holiday for two weeks then getting back into the mood for work! Do you do it or throw a sicky? lol .... Happens a lot to be honest. Same happens when it comes to putting the heating back on after summer, loads of faults!
