I have a noise problem with my electric boiler. The noise is a loud low-pitched whistle/screech, whenever anyone in the house turns on any tap, hot or cold. There is no noise if I turn off the cold supply to the boiler.
The noise appears to emanate from either the boiler or the plumbing near to the boiler and is loud enough to wake people where the plumbing run is near to them.
My own thoughts on the matter are that maybe there is a one-way valve within the boiler which is faulty, and when any tap is turned on the higher pressure within the boiler tries to escape via the faulty valve. But then maybe there is no one-way valve? I have no idea.
The boiler is a Spanish make, Fagor and is about 9 years old. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Better getting someone to have a look at it as it could be many things. It is to do with the incoming water pressure, probably related to a valve.
