Hi All

I am right in believing that you are required to fit a filter in a heating oil supply line under regulation J in compliance with BS4510?
If this was not fitted then the builder (house built 2003) is in breach of building regs?
Any input or help would be great!
Thanks

That's only the start of it! There's oil sleeves to fit whenever there's a join, correctly fitted fire valve, isolation valve, etc, etc.

I don't like criticising previous installers for oil, bathrooms or anything - you never know it could have been a member of the family who did the installation (or the husband or anyone).

If they tell me it was "So and So" plumber then I say there could well have been a good reason not to have done something the way it should have been done.

Instead, I say that it could well have been within the regulations at the time but they may well have changed and now the standards say that you've got to do .....
