Hi Folks,

Any of you had grief with replacing leaking 'o'rings on the Baxi Combi/105HE main heatexchanger and secondary heatexchanger's?

I've just replaced, for the second time, 'o'rings on the pipe between the main Hex and the Secondary Hex. No leaks when I left yet ovr a month down the line they've leaked again, the custard has just txt me to say there's a leak on the boiler!!! grrrrrr!

Any fixes when these become a pain?

Cheers for replies..... by the way the first time they leaked was when I went to replace the fan! ... !! *$$$*

Never had them leak on the main exchanger, also always put a smudge of silicone grease on the gaskets on the plate to plate heat exchanger and never had a issue.

silicone grease on assembly normally sorts it Steve, check the copper connecting pipe has no debris or muck on it

Chers Mark...
Well my friend I cleaned out... feeling around to make sure no crap, pips or nicks... greased the male and female before and after fitting the 'o'ring .... "LEAKED".... A guy I rang said PTFE the pipe.... I did! and I thought it was sorted, it didn't leak after testing..... until now! My thoughts are... worst case having to replace the hex and or pipe from hex to 2nd hex? any thoughts? Honestly I thought I'd cracked it! The pipe into the 'o'ring of the main hex did seem very 'slack'!

pipe is normally slack,i take it clips in the correct place, never had this issue on baxi,s but i have on worcester,i would have said ptfe as well,i would be tempted to fit a new o ring, wrap ptfe and smear silicone sealant over that before renewing the hex and pipe,i dont have any S/H hex,s for the 105 or i could help you out,are you using this part number? 248021

Clip is sound and 'solid'! I thought of using something like LX sealer!! Don't like it if I'm honest!

Regards the 'o'ring part!... Yeh it's the manufacturers! ... I did clean the pipe with steel wool to make sure it was 'clean'... I doubt that'd reduced its diameter enough to cause the water to pass ....

I was wondering if something like leak sealer or the fernox LX paste has been one some folk have used?

🙂
