not untill something goes wrong, how would you prove you had followed the correct procedures?tickles me when peeps think messing around with a potential time bomb it's not a problem.save some dollar, let them carry on😛

Going by this thread we should all be rushed off our feet connecting propane bottles to gas BBQ's in the next month or so, if you have the right ticket😀

. An exception to this requirement is in
circumstances where the disconnection of the domestic appliance does not require the
use of a tool. For example, a cooker or an outside barbeque is usually fitted with a
flexible connection and a self-closing valve. These may be disconnected by the user for
cleaning and storage respectively.

so regs are saying a non qualified person can change cookers if there is a flexy and bayonet fitment ???

Seems to me, nobody is asking the obvious questions?

ACS is a relatively new requirement as far as I am aware, there where not thousands of accidents before they came out though.

The training people and colleges and interested companies have got a lot to answer, for spreading alarm like they have. Is it to justify their high course and job costs may be?

It seems to me some gas fitters are perhaps now coming out talking like technical books instead of knowing the job through experience and understanding.

Anything that is not described in the particular book they learnt out of, they do not seem to understand. Its a shame really that all these college course don't have some way to give practical experience at the same time.

Lets be honest, if it was an air line pilot about to take his first flight and all he had done was study and qualify on a theoretical college course, would you feel a bit uneasy flying with them?

Everybody knows gas is dangerous improperly used, but so is electricity and that is not half as regulated as gas. So is driving a car dangerous and many other things.

were did this statement come from????

regs are regs,we follow them,if all you non registers people do not like them, contact the regulators,do not take it out on the people who have to follow the regulations set down
personal opinions, do not come into it,unregistered people can wallow in self opinion ,we, as registered competent people can not ,we have to follow the regulations and rules, which have been explained

imho

ok so I will rephrase my question, are regs saying a non qualified person can change a cooker if they do not use any tools and are using flexy hose and self closing valve

were is the reconnection issue addressed in the regulation,it is not, therefore, non competent person can remove but not reconnect

Makes sense when you think about it

as for ref to barbys

Some may think it is ok to connect a nice new barby at the start of the season, however what about the unstable, burner damaged, over gased appliance come end of september, that has been stuffed and restuffed in the shed all summer and brought out and then connected to the gas supply, with insulation tape all over the flexi gas hose that has been damaged by the lawn mower blades it has been wedged against in the last month

I know coz I have one !!!

imho
