Hi everyone,

I've registered here as my last attempt at getting a working boiler before I go completely crazy with my landlord.

Been living in this flat for 2 and a half years and constantly had boiler problems. Boiler constantly breaking, going months without hot water.

Our landlord finally had a new boiler installed for us last week - the Electromax and it's not bloody working.

I had a shower this morning and my husband had a shower after work. The water went cold during his shower. So we've run out of hot water after about 40 minutes of use.

I've read the manual and I'm completely miffed as to why we have ran out of hot water. We are on a Economy 7 tariff with Scottish Power.

If anyone could shed any light on this, I'd really appreciate it.

Hi LSmith & welcome

The Electromax is not really a boiler as such it is a package unit containing a direct un-vented hot water cylinder i.e. water is heated by electric immersion heaters. & an electric boiler which heats primary hot water which is circulated to rads or underfloor emitters to provide the warmth.

You need to check that you have the hot water heating set up correctly, the "hot water on switch" should be left switched on all the time. The water will only heat up when the economy 7 power is available. i.e. over night. Have you checked the time settings on this, is it on for the whole 7 hours? It will take at least 200 Mins to heat up (3.5hours min)

What is the temperature of the hot water on it's own first thing in the morning ??
It should be 60 -65 deg C thats too hot to put your hand under.

Does the boost immersion work ?

You should have 180Litres of hot water which should be more than enough for two to shower but what type of shower fitting do you have its not one that discharges loads of water ?

Hi, thanks for replying.

I have contacted my electricity provider to see what tariff I'm on. I think we may be on Economy 2000. We are having problems with them too.

We had hot water this morning. It's always hot but it's never scalding hot. I think it may possibly something to do with our electricity tariff with Scottish Power. Hopefully they'll get in touch with me today.

I'll keep you posted.
