Hot water but no heating!

Hi everyone...
I have a conventional boiler and when i call for hot water the boiler fires up ok, however when i call for heating i get nothing no pilot light, no noise nothing! Please can you advise? Thanks....

could be a dodgy thermostat

probably one of the following, 1) Thermostat faulty, 2) motorised valve failure - I would be looking at number for a start

Ok thankyou... And what is the best way to check that the m/valve is working correctly? Just a thought could it be a faulty m/valve head?

there is 240v ac , and if not competent I will advice not to try as it could go bang

Probably one of the two suggested above. MV easy swap if only changing head. thermostat just get a like for like and swap. EASY. Multimeter will test both.

Have you tried putting the valve into manual, what type of valve is it two port of three or two separate valves???
