Had my boilermate 2000 drained and refilled to repair a leak.

We have a water softener and the system was refilled with softened water. British Gas did the job and said they don't provide inhibitors but will add it if the customer supplies it.

I didn't have any so will need to do a partial drain doen again and add some. Sentinel x100 seems to be the only softener being compatible with softened water, but would any build - cert brew do the job? My local Tool station do some Corgi branded inhibitor at around £7, half the price of the Sentinel.

What boiler have got? Some don't like artificial softened water & you would have to do a full drain down & refill with hard water. Worcester Bosch for example you cannot fill with softened water.

really bad service by British gas!!! Shockingly bad!!! Why would they drain a system & then refill without inhibitor...? No wonder they sell so many powerflushes, it's there engineers who damage the systems it seems!

I recommend X100 by Sentinel, it's better to go with a trusted name if you can afford it.
