Lead water pipe leak

Hi guys,

I have a pin ***** leak on my main water pipe from the ground, the pipe is lead going in to copper. Fortunately the leak is above the stop tap, and looks like the leak is caused by the edge of the inserted copper pipe.

I've done a bit of research and asked about as to what is the best solution for this, digging up a replacing pipes is out of the question right now.

I've been advised to use a lead-lock from the lead to copper or have a sweat joint done. Any thoughts or ideas on how i can fix this will be appreciated.

I've attached an image of the pipe and the leak is where my attempt to to slow the leak down is.

Get a pro in to fix it pal, don't mess with anything lead unless you are proficient and have done it many times before.

You'd need a lead lock not ment to sweat joints anymore
But you'll be better off calling someone to do it for you

if you do the digging yourself the mdpe pipe and labour wont cost a fortune

Electrolysis? lead and copper should never meet; that's what has caused the leak. They react causing corrosion between dissimilar metals.

Knock a match into it and dress the lead over it.
