Hi All,
I am looking for an experienced Plumber/Gas Engineer who would be willing to partner to build a team of subcontactors (10 in the medium term) in London. You would ideally be a one-man band or have small team but are still on the tools yourself and feel that this isn't sustainable.
I have successfully partnered previously but unfortunately we ended our business relationship amicably due to personal circumstances. The business itself grew well from one tradesman to a team and we created a sound business model.
Accordingly, I am now keen to deploy that model again with the right person. It was a great a system which included our proprietary web/mobile app and associated automation that enabled many elements of the business to run themselves. Having seen the systems other firms are using, I genuinely think this is superior. I have some great ideas to develop the app further particularly with data analytics and would welcome input from the front lines as it were. I'm not opposed to third party software (serviceM8 is great for example) but there is a lot to be said for the ability to modify your own platform in-house and launch updates/new solutions rapidly.
Although not a tradesman myself, I understand the services and revenue streams due to my background in the industry and from the previous business. I'm also fully up to speed with the admin involved in a business like this including compliance, CIS, filing requirements, VAT, payroll etc. I've worked in operations for my whole 9 to 5 career within a range of industries including electro-mechanical engineering, FMGC, plumbing & heating and property maintenance. My skillset is process improvement particularly with digital automation and it's something I find really stimulating. Happy to grow an existing business or start one from scratch - a lot of advantages to the latter as there is equal skin in the game and nobody has to feel relucant to let go of their 'baby'.
The division of labour would be as follows but there is of course a collaborative overlap with business strategy, networking, customer journey and so on.
You - Technical trade expert
Customer enquiries (day time)
Job scheduling and oversight
Material procurement
Subcontractor technical questions
Quoting large jobs
Quality control
Latest industry knowledge

Me - Operations & IT expert
Companies house/tax/payroll admin

Recuitment and onboarding
You may be wondering, why would a tradesman need my help?
Building a business while you are on the tools is extremely difficult and although possible, growth is slow and only scalable to a point. Additionally, the actual trade work is only the service side of the business, there is a huge amount of other work involved to continually scale up. This is not one of these 'I have an idea' posts - I have a proven model that I wish to develop further and deploy rapidly; I simply need someone with the same vision.
If anyone is interested, please send a direct message and we can have a more detailed discussion.
