25si

Last night both worked fine, today neither work. The pump has been noisy for about a year, getting louder as time went on. I switched the heating off last night and this morning it wouldn't work. It sounds like the pump is trying (there is a humming noise) but, failing to do anything. Does this sound like pump failure?

the boiler is a Worcester 25Si from around 2001.

If it is the pump, is this a diy job (as I assume the gas supply would not be touched when replacing a pump).

Many thanks

Mark

If the pump has valves either side that actually work then it's not that difficult. Plenty of videos on YouTube ect. But if they don't work I'd call someone in. Means draining down the heating. Don't forget there's also wiring involved. Take a picture on your phone to remember where the wires go and into what terminals.

The pump has two pipes connected on top (large and small) and one large one underneath. Cannot see anything that looks like valves attached that would stop the water pouring out, so i guess the system will need draining?

The boiler has 3 lights - green for power: on, red for ch: on, red for dhw: on, then flashes when ch is turned on.

Do I need a gas engineer too replace the pump?

Many thanks

If the isolation valves on the boiler work no need for drain down.
Should be 1-2 hours work depending if head change or whole body, so depends on how much whoever you get charges.

Excuse my ignorance here, is the head of the pump the front end of it, which is secured with 4 alllen bolts, leaving the pipes connected?

Any way to test the isolation valves?

Thanks for all the help.
