potterton 30he hot water problem

Hi all
Please can someone help with my problem .
Basically my heating is fine but hot water will only work if the tap is on full blast , and then turning any other water supply on knocks it off .
I noticed the rod wasn't protruding fully out of the diverter valve body to activate the micro switch , so I naturally thought it was the diaphragm .
I went ahead and changed it for a new one but I am still having the same problem .
any advice would be much appreciated .
