i working on a potterton proforma 28, first of all the boiler was not working at all, just the pump, changed over the pcb board then it fired up, but now it only fires up for 10 seconds then goes to lock out, the red light just stays on. what could be the problem

thanks

Danny

Well two main options maybe here, not sensing main burner alight or circulation problem, Check you have connected sensor cables correctly to new pcb firstly and gaps correct on burner, then turn boiler stat down and see what happens, check pump flow switch operation correct, also thermistor may be a problem, if I have to replace pcb, usually replace boiler thermistor at same time now as had a few that last a few weeks and then pack up, then you have to go back for sake of a few quid

imho

is it a potterton performa? Is it condensing or non condensing?

What specific red light comes on?

If it's the red light with the Circle with the triangle inside then it's most likely the pump flow diaphragm and not the pump, as puddle was pointing out

You need to be a bit more specific as there's quite a few red lights on the performa boiler

its a se,they did not make the 28 a he,it went up to 30he,back to puddles advice you need to check the basics first is it detecting the burners lit?is the flow switch lifting? have you connected the cables jack plugs in the right order?
