You mean in situ or after they've been removed?
You can test the Ohms reading through the element and the HLS and Control stats.
Test insulation the a megger.
Is that what you meant?

Yes pretty much.
Both in and out of situ would be useful for fault finding. How do you test the element and hls?

Test Ohms reading through element. Expect around 19 for 3kw or there and there abouts. Can use multimeter for that. Also use that to check continuity through HLS (high limit stat) and control stat.
Multifunction tester for insulation resistance.

Continuity or ohms for the stat? What ohms reading would be too high/low for the element?
Cheers
