fitted a vaillent eco plus 28 system boiler today(customer supplied it) flue is utter tat i dented it just by holding it!and you need a pump over run so its not ideal as a replacement if you need a extra cable it replaced a baxi barcelona which worryingly, looks suspiciously like the baxi solo 30he i fitted the other day,all because i could not pressurise the system because its all pipework in the floor and could not fit a system performa🙁god what have i done with this solo fitted a liability?

You must have the grip of godzilla if you dented it just be holding it...

it was ultra thin,it dented as i was cutting it
they are quite easily damaged,i was thinking of making a guide to support them while cutting, could be a patent here😉
half the royalties please😎

Whatever you think of vaillant boilers, the flues are rubbish, if you just squeeze it the seam can split, you have to be really carful when cutting it, as said, paper thin, deffinetly the new outer metal flues are the worst I have come across, you have to make sure they are cut right back to the wall with rubber covering them and plastic terminal only showing otherwise the metal outer is going to corrode in no time 🙁

imho

Thats true puddle.

Out of interest what do you guys use to cut the outer of the flue?

hacksaw for me to,but this flue i may be able to use my teeth lol😀

On Vaillant flues,I use the official Rothenberger flue cutting tool, bit pricey but lovely bit of kit

imho

could have done with one of them today,i think my hacksaws to powerful😀 lol

glow worm micron flues were made out of the same foil that they put on those gold choclate coins.

ive always used vailants and the cutting of the flue is what defines the true tradesman (lol)only way ive found is to score it all the way round gradually getting deeper unless ive got the chop saw on board which makes it realy easy

I mark them all the way round and cut the flue with an 18v dewalt grinder with a 1mm blade
