Dan the plumber

Good Morning one and all,

One of my customers owns a Chinese takeaway and this morning they have called to say that their wok cooker has stopped working as the water cooled section of the stove isn't flowing away (presumably clogged by grease/fat/a Chinese chip!!!)

I said I would pop over this morning to take a look but am guessing this is under the commercial catering gas safe remit!?

Has any of you knowledgeable folk ever worked on one of these and is the wet plumbing side separate from the gas side....i.e can I mess with it-lol !?

thanks in advance y'all

Couldnt tell you for certain but if it were me I would leave it well alone.

I've installed and worked on a few of these wok burners.

The biggest issue I have found is they were never installed correctly.
( DIY water supply and drainage )
If you have never worked on these appliances, or done an installation of one, you may want to get hem to call someone else.

Not because i doubt your ability, but because of the availability of meat cleavers and capable users at most premises's, when you tell them that the problems are not an easy fix and you give them a bill for your time

If your not qualified and certificated in this area back off its not worth it
ok I see what ur thinking water not gas BUT 'no work as defined shall be carried out by an unqualified person ' on a gas appliance -somefing like that.

Thanks for your help all-problem sorted.

The wok cooker had a water cooled bed with a plug hole that empties into its own integrated sink & inturn, flows away through an S trap & through the waste pipe in the normal sink manor.

If it would have been anything to do with the cooker it's self I would have left well alone but as it turned out, pretty much all 4mtrs of waste pipe was literally blocked solid with 23yrs of goodness!!!!

Removed, replaced (this time installing correctly rather than the previous garden wire used as a makeshift clips!!!) & water is flowing away as good as new.
