Abot 2 years ago I had major work done to the house. Only recently did I discover that the water meter is incorrectly sited so that not all the water I use is registered. What do I do.... contact the water company? contact the builder? I am worried that any remedial work will cause major disruption to the kitchen (which we paid quite a few thousand for!). Don't want the bamboo worktops to have to come up. What do people think I should do?

Depends on wether the problem was caused by a plumber or the water board because if a plumber did it then id be carefull as they may fine you if they find out and you'll have to pay for and damage that is caused, but if there is no way of finding out id keep quiet.

personally i would tee into the pipe and get the whole house running off the one not connected to the meter and just leave the garden tap attached to meter, but thats just me 🙂
