Water pressure and flow rate?

Hi all. Out of about 80 boilers I helped install with my previous colleague, not once did we check mains water pressure or flow rate. Do most of you guys actually check this when quoting a job or on installing a boiler to make sure the boiler will operate effectively? Or do you just open up the cold tap and judge it?

Once you test a few you have an idea what your looking at and you can judge just by opening a tap, but if it's looking low always test them

A good test if the water hits the sink and splashes back into your you have enough 😀

You can get a kit for a decent price instead of buying them all separate but it's still a bit expensive

What's wrong with a bucket under the tap for a minute then emptying out with a litre jug. Cheapest way.

I check with a flow cup.
Might be the thing that makes you stand out from the crowd

A flow cups around £25 and is a lot easier than a bucket

Put a flow cup under my kitchen cold and its a waste of time , nearly blows it out of your hand lol

When i'm pricing a boiler change i normally grab the custs kettle and see how quick it fills prior to switching it on for a cheeky brew ,

Maybe thats why i don't win many boiler changes

Its something we should always be doing and not just presuming especially if it's in an area or region your not used to working in. Different in home town as you get to know pressures but still best to check in case of problems.

Always check mate, you'd look a right plonker if you didn't and the main just dribbled out, don't forget the boiler hex residence takes a bit off as well!
