hello all to start with, im wondering if anyone is in my position, im currently employed and have passed my gas safe course ccn1 core, boilers, fires, cookers, meters, pipework etc etc and as im employed, can i use my gas safe card myself on private jobs? At the moment im having to get self employed qualified people in just to finish off gas works and tests etc any advice would be vry helpfull, thanks

once you have passed your ACS, you either register with GSR as a company, if you are an employee your boss will register you, or in your case you will require dual registration, one for your company which will cost your boss £63 to add you to the company register, and if you want to do any work on your own you need to pay GSR £400 to register yourself for the first time (then £200 each year) plus your PLI etc etc, you CANNOT do any work on gas on your employers gas number, outwith work given by the company. think about it your company pays out all the dosh whay would you be able to make money by using his reg?

Thanks kirkgas, i did think that hence getting outside workers in, id never risk it to be honest, its put my mind at rest now

i know people who have done it and nothing has been said, not sure how long they could get awa with it though
