I have a worcester bosch 240 boiler on home care with british gas, it has been serviced well but then now were having problems with it cutting out when we draw hot water for a bath or shower. Engineers have come round and their prognosis is that its old, which i do understand as i no its over 13 years old but they still should no which part is the problem. i have read the manual and it says that there is no thermostatic control on the hot water. i have changed the taps a while back on the bath tap shower mixer, and was wondering if the flow wasn't sufficient could the boiler be cutting out as the hot water isn't being taken away quick enough. i can't find the make of the taps which i bough and don't know the flow unfortunately. this is pretty much my last shot before i have to replace the boiler as it is a rented property.
any help would be much appreciated

Of course there is temperature control of hot water through a sensor on boiler, this should be looked at first ,as problem with hot water

Trouble is BG will be trying to get you to replace the boiler due to age,as they may have to repay some of your numerous years of profit contributions (you have made them through your protection cover payments) on repairing boiler and if you have tenants on your back too, they will probably have there way unless you get an independent in to repair it quickly and correctly

imho

Thanks for your help, probably going to try and get british gas back in and see if they will look at that. don't really want to have to pay for an independent on top of the cover i already pay for. tempted just to replace the boiler on the home link plan so as i have a brand new boiler under warranty

Thanks puddle

id say most indepenents will be a minimum 30 % cheaper than BG for a replacement . A lot of boilers now come with 5 years warranty as standard but think im wasting my breath as you seem to be a BG man

i aint gonna get british gas to do it, the only reason i have them is because an independent messed it up then i was deployed so my wife was left to pick up the pieces and they seemed the safest option to get it sorted at the time. its a company called home link who install you another boiler and you pay for it monthly so i pay the same as home plan but have a brand new boiler. saves me having to pay out all in one go.
could you give me a rough idea how much a new boiler might be for a ground floor 2 bed flat with 7 radiators? just to make sure i don't get my pants pulled down on the price.
i appreciate all your feedback many thanks

Unfortunately you aren't going to get gas advise from us, it's advisable to get a gas engineer in or if are gs then get your post count up and contact one of the mods
