My 14 plate Vivaro clutch has started juddering now my van has reached the mighty milestone of 24,000 miles @ just under 3 years old but my local stealership assure me that this is normal and comes under wear and tear, but as it is still within its warranty period they will look after me and only charge me £1200 to rectify the issue. What do you guys think, anybody had any similar issues?:32::32::32:

Vehicles insurances are not made for you, they are made to get your money. It's a legal way of stealing. They will tell you, you are covered with engine parts, etc... but once one thing goes and it cost a little they are going to tell you it's wear and tear ... it's their way of stealing your money. My father has just put a deposit down on a new one but depending on how they deal with this may sway his decision somewhat. hopefully that gives me some leverage

clutch dual mass flywheel fubared?
probably poor quality, indy about £700 !!

I've seen on Facebook that someone had the van sign written with something like:

Before you buy a van from here this van is 2 years old and needs £3000 worth of work on a new engine and they will not cover it on warranty

Apparently it worked and they paid for it. You can get magnetic signs fairly cheap as well.

Reading online there is a lot of people with similar issues and the fault lying elsewhere but causing the clutch to fail along with it. I'm sure if this goes into Vauxhall and this is the case they will not be the first to put their hands up and admit it.

Start a polite correspondence / email, to establish a record of what is being said. Specifically request they repair under warranty due to low mileage. If not satisfied take case direct to Vauxhall. All this may be to no avail but will demonstrate you have given all parties the opportunity to remedy the defect. Any payment for work done should be,"Without Prejudice" to allow you recover costs through future action.
If still aggrieved consider a claim for goods, "not fit for purpose", not just for cost of repair, but for cost to replace with alternative vehicle, which doesn't need a £1200 repair every 24000 miles. A ,"Letter before Action", detailing a claim for £6K+ will focus their attention.

I didn't even consider going down a legal route. I have a Solicitor who owes me a favour, I think I will be making that phone call tomorrow

Well I spoke to Vauxhall direct to open up a case as I am close to the end of my warranty terms but the guys at my local dealership were quite comical about the situation and said something along the lines of "we wont know whats caused the clutch failure until we get the gearbox off so we will get you booked in and argue about it then"

I also have a solicitor poised to send a letter on my behalf if needs be but advised me to try and make a deal like pay half of the costs as it could be painful trying to take Vauxhall to court for it

Yesterday my van went in for investigation at my local dealership. They said that the clutch had less than 10% wear on it but had "hotspots" indicating driver abuse and therefore wouldn't be covered under warranty (not even prepared to try the warranty process). The cost of the total repair will be £1100 with them looking after me which included a new clutch, slave cylinder and various misc bits.

I was unhappy with this so I spoke to the Vauxhall case handlers, after numerous calls between myself and the dealership they agreed to cover 70% of the costs for the total repair.

I took a photo of the clutch while I was there including the "hotspot" they were trying to blag as driver error which I will try and upload.

The end result is actually better than I was expecting but I do think it is somewhere near fair. I do not like the fact of being a winging customer but it just shows you if you complain to the right people in the right places you can sometimes come to an amicable result.

Be honest now, was it to many wheel spins outside mc Donald's?

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Hi all. Hope you have all been keeping well. A while back I decided I only wanted to fit one brand of boiler and decided on Viessmann due to space for servicing and changing parts if ever needing to. I am finding my decision rather hard due to the different clearances on flue runs and cupboards...
