Hi I just got a call from a client who needs a boiler installed. BG have offered her a 15kw baxi but she wants a vailliant. heat only they are. Would it be ok to put a 18kw vailliant in instead of the 15kw baxi?

be better for her to get quotes other than bg to see what shes being overcharged, ps vaillant

It would modulate down, only the price might be more than the baxi. If its heat only vaillant do a 15kw

Beware, the wiring will/may be different. Baxi has no pump overrun unlike most others.

If its a baxi that's in and you want to fit something else, you'll have to run new cable to pump.

If you not too confident with the wiring the the baxi may be the one as TBServices says

I don't mind running a new cable to pump. I have the honeywell wiring guide. :) I was thinking 18kw as they might want to extend in near future

CAN you though? Is it possible? If so, fit whatever you want! Word of warning though, I've been to a lot of heat only's where the spur and programmer are right under the boiler, so many of the newer, taller boilers i.e. logic plus heat, won't fit without a re-wire.

Thanks for the heads up tb. I shall look at job with dimensions of boiler and see how it goes without having to reposition the spur and programmer

yea im guessing there is only 3 wires at the boiler! this is why they offered the baxi, i do exactly the same on my quotes!

The Solo HE isn't too bad anyway, I fitted one in my parents house 2 years ago and it hasn't given any bother. Very quiet and compact too.

Yea agree with that I fitted alot of main he and its the same beast! Great little boiler with only 3 wires means it always has a place for me ;)

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
