Discuss Best practice for releasing air when filling up cold water supply from mains in the Plumbing Jobs | The Job-board area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi all

Any tips please on how to release air from taps without all the water hammer and spluttering? I have had to drain down and fill up my system in the house which is all mains fed and on a combi boiler.

However, when I fill up the system and open the taps to release air it splutters water everywhere and bangs the crap out of the pipes.

Should I be opening all taps/valves from ground floor first upstairs bathroom taps?

Any help is much appreciated.

Open the taps a crack

Then crack open the stop tap (until you hear the water running through the pipe)

Then go around closing the taps once there flowing with water

TBH I do it the same way you describe :D
